A Passion for Painting

Artists Claire Layman and Lydia Ben-Natan have joined us as exhibitors, ready to unveil their expressive and passionate works at the show.

Lydia says that “Painting… really permits me freedom of expression while simultaneously challenging me to explore and improve. I liken the process of creating a painting to that of an emotional rollercoaster, a rollercoaster that I’m quite happy to continue riding.”

Conservation of Cultural Heritage

Conservators do the important job of working to preserve our cultural heritage. As picture framers are often interacting with cultural materials, it is essential that they have an awareness of the issues and practices of conservation. The AICCM (Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material) is the professional organisation for conservators in Australia and they will have a stand at the show with members on hand to share information about their work. On Sunday from 1-5pm Jude Fraser, manager of the Melbourne University conservation lab (The Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation, University of Melbourne) will be a guest on their stand and will also give a presentation on conservation in The Hub.
