Listen to this fascinating lecture by Dr. Ian Geraghty that was delivered this morning at The Framing Show. The lecture was highly recommended by everyone who attended.

Description:
“Taking the form of a (loose) literature review, this presentation structures itself around quotes and images taken from a selection of publications that have philosophically pondered the function of the picture frame. The talk focuses on why we frame things and the varying ways that picture frames interact with framed artworks (as well as their own surroundings). It explains some lesser-known framing terms such as the ‘intra-compositional frame’ (Pearson) and the ‘parergon’ (Derrida), and will also look at how artists have used frames to negotiate physical and conceptual space for their artworks. Going beyond technical and historical perspectives, this presentation is guaranteed to push the way we think about framing to a new level.”

Chamton has announced that one of Australia’s favourite photographers, Ken Duncan, will be scheduled to appear on their stand at The Framing Show. Ken is a highly acclaimed local photographer and is also recognised internationally as one of the world’s leading panoramic landscape specialists. Ken became the first photographer in the world to publish a book of panoramic photographs from all fifty American states. His magnificent photographs of the natural world have won numerous awards including a “Benny” (Best of Category) at the American National Print Awards. Ken’s spectacular shots of Australia have helped redefine many viewers’ image of the Australian landscape. Magnificently reproduced, the Ken Duncan poster range showcases Ken’s outstanding landscape photography in a vivid and wonderfully affordable format.

Ken Duncan will be on the Chamton stand for one hour on Friday from 11am and from 2pm; and on Saturday from 1pm and Sunday from 1pm. Chamton will have prints available for Ken to sign.
